One-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Cream Riser, Stamped "J.M. HAYS," Randolph County, NC, circa, second half 19th century, flaring form with flattened rim and incised banding to shoulder, impressed with James Madison Hayes maker's mark above a one-gallon capacity mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing rim chip to reverse. H 7 7/8" ; Diam. (at rim) 8 3/4".
