Two Slip-Decorated Redware Dishes, New England origin, early to mid 19th century, both of related flaring, rounded-rim form, one with copper-speckled, yellow-slip wavy line decoration under a clear lead glaze, probably Nathaniel Seymour, West Hartford, CT, early 19th century, the other with elaborate yellow-slip wavy and looping line motifs, possibly Hervey Brooks, Goshen, CT, second quarter 19th century. Provenance: Warren F. Hartmann Collection. Smaller dish with a 3 1/4" poorly-restored section to rim, a small unrestored chip with adjacent poorly-restored chip at rim, and a flake to interior. Other dish with a 5" crack from rim and flakes and light wear to interior base. Diam. (of smaller dish) 9 1/2".
