Two Large Molded Stoneware Tankard Pitchers, attributed to the White's Pottery, Utica, NY, late 19th century, both of cylindrical form with mask spouts, sea serpent handles, and elaborate moldings throughout; one with relief tavern scene and German slogan on opposing sides, decorated with cobalt, copper, and Albany slip highlights throughout; the other with basket-weave pattern and relief design of an elderly couple reading a paper, inscribed "Gartenlaube," on one side and a German slogan on the reverse, decorated with cobalt highlights throughout and a few Albany slip accents. Salt-glazed surface. Three-color-slip example with vertical firing fissures along seam on front and reverse. Other example in excellent, essentially as-made condition. H (of three-color-slip example) 14 1/2".
