Six-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "D S," Daniel Seagle, Lincoln County, NC, circa 1840, skillfully-potted jar of highly ovoid form with flattened rim and large pocket handles, the surface covered in a streaky, olive-green alkaline glaze. Impressed "D S" and "6" on handles. Two rim chips, measuring 2 7/8" and 1 5/8". Large crack around much of base area. A 1 1/4" flake to one handle and a 1 7/8" flake to opposite handle. H 15 3/4".
