Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Vine Decoration, Stamped "T.H. WILLSON & CO / HARRISBURG.PA,," circa 1852-1855, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, artistically-decorated with a symmetrical slip-trailed vine motif emanating from a scrolled wreath-like design. Prized early-period Harrisburg maker, scarce slip-trailed treatment, and excellent color. A Y-shaped crack on underside, extending 5 5/8" up reverse. Crazing to exterior base, not visible on interior. Some light mottling to clay. H 9 3/4".
