Fine Glazed Redware Jug, Northeastern U.S. origin, probably NY State, early to mid 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with stepped spout molding and ribbed handle with unusual pointed terminal, the surface featuring a colorful salmon-colored lead glaze with cream highlights. Likely made by a European immigrant potter, this beautifully thrown and glazed work displays a link to Old World potting traditions in the pronounced point to the lower handle terminal. Very nice condition. In-the-firing piece of clay residue to shoulder. A 7/8" flake to edge of handle and some minor wear to handle. Extremely minor spout wear. Some small flecks of glaze loss to body of jug. A 4" firing crack to surface of underside, not visible on interior. H 13 1/2".
