Very Rare Quart-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "A.R," Ambrose Reinhardt, Lincoln County, NC, third quarter 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and narrow, flaring spout, the surface covered in a streaky olive-brown alkaline glaze. Impressed below maker's mark with a "1/2" mark, despite the fact that the vessel measures a much smaller quarter-gallon. Exceptional size. Very nice condition with light surface wear and a small in-the-firing ping to base. H 6 1/2".
