Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD N. Y.," circa 1875, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and tall collar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 3/4" in-the-firing iron ping to reverse. Some minor staining to reverse. Two unglazed in-the-firing contact marks to base. H 10 1/2".
