Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a large, abstract ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Reverse with a 4 1/8" salt drip and two minor in-the-firing pings. A few minor rim chips. A 3/4" crack to edge of one handle. A small base chip. Some light staining. H 11 1/4".
