Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. DARROW & SON. / BALDWINSVILLE," NY State origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with an exceptionally large slip-trailed design of four spiraling floral motifs interspersed with four leaves, all accented with numerous spots. Slip-trailed flourish and two slip-trailed "2's" at base of decoration. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 5" horizontal spider line at base on reverse. A restored spout chip beside handle and a minor, unrestored spout chip. A long diagonal restored crack ascending from base on front through flourish below design and one "2," ending on the reverse side of the jug. H 13 1/2".
