Unusual Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware "Top Hat" Canning Jar with Error Stencil, Stenciled "A.P. Donoghho(sic) / Parkersburg. W.Va.," circa 1875, squat-shaped canning jar with tooled shoulder and flattened "wax sealer" rim, featuring A.P. Donaghho maker's stenciling with lesser-seen error stencil. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A small chip to interior of rim. Old traces of paint to surface. H 5 1/2".
