Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "THOMPSON WILLIAMS / & CO / MORGANTOWN. / W. VA.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled maker's mark of Thompson, William & Co. surrounding stenciled geometric designs. Freehand "3" above and stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with some typical light wear to interior of rim and some glazed-over scratches to front. H 14 1/4".
