Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO, / PA," circa 1875, tapering jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring a stenciled shield bearing James Hamilton maker's stenciling. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Chips to interior of rim and inner rim for lid. An in-the-firing base chip. A spot of staining at base on reverse. H 9 1/2".
