Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "J. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO. / Pa," circa 1875, tapering jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring James Hamilton maker's stenciling within a looping flourish. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. Small chips to interior of rim. Inner rim for canning lid with a 5/8" chip and two small chips. Minor surface wear. A few very minor flecks of white paint to reverse. H 8 3/8".
