One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Abstract Stenciled Motif, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jar with flattened rim featuring a large cross-shaped stenciled design surrounded by stylized-heart motifs. A 3/4" glazed-over rim chip on reverse with a very faint 7/8" surface line descending from it, not visible on interior. A small rim chip on front. Light surface wear. H 8 3/8".
