Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-squared rim, decorated with a large slip-trailed floral spray featuring a central flower surrounded by leaves and dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with a minor nick to one handle, minor wear to cobalt, and a tiny in-the-firing ping to inner rim for lid. H 17 3/4".
