Rare Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Deer Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD STONE WARE CO, / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a deer with turned head, reclining atop a stylized ground flanked by shrubs. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition. One handle with a 1/2" chip and tiny chip. A small rim chip. Minor rim nicks on reverse. A minor nick to interior of rim. A small chip to underside at edge. A salt drip to reverse. H 13 1/4".
