Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "M. WOODRUFF / CORTLAND," NY State origin, circa 1867-1869, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a stem bearing three tulips. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid. Small chips and wear to inner rim for lid. A tiny nick to one handle. A small spot of surface wear to side of churn. Lid with a chip to lower edge and two small chips to to top edge. H (excluding lid) 18 1/4".
