Iron-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Impressed Eagle-on-Cannon Motif, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with heavy tooling to base, shoulder, and spout, decorated with an impressed design of a spread-winged eagle perched on a cannon beside a mound of cannonballs. Dipped iron-oxide decoration to base and spout. Essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing chip to shoulder and surface staining. H 14 1/2".
