Six Salt-Glazed Stoneware Bottles, Northeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, one stamped "C. WHITTEMORES / MEAD" and another stamped "C.S. TWITCHELL, / SUCCESSOR TO / C. WHITTEMORE," both with salt-over-Albany-slip glaze; one with cobalt stripe around neck, stamped "S.S. KNICKERBOCKER / 1849;" and three others bearing the following stamps: "C.WHITTEMORE," "L. A. WIGHTMAN.," and "C.S. TWITCHELL / SUCCESSOR TO / C. WHITTEMORE (impressed twice)." The two Twitchell bottles and "C. WHITTEMORES / MEAD" bottle are in very nice to excellent condition. The three other bottles have in-the-firing flaws or damage. H (of tallest) 10 1/8".
