Stoneware Lidded Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, wide, cylindrical form with heavily-tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with drooping floral motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a wavy line of cobalt beneath each handle. Lid with brushed swag decoration, likely Remmey, but possibly not original to this crock. Crock with a 4 1/2" professionally-restored crack from rim, several small rim chips, a small base chip and small glazed-over base chip, short vertical surface lines at base, not visible on interior, and grease residue to surface. Lid with losses to flange on underside, the knob with three minor chips. Dimensions (excluding lid): H 5 7/8" x Diam. 10 1/8" ; Diam. (of lid): 10 1/4".
