Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "I.M. MEAD, / Mogadore, / Ohio," circa 1840, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, brush-decorated with a drooping floral motif. Freehand "2" above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Areas of dark, in-the-firing craquelure to salt glaze, often found on Ohio stoneware. Shallow chipping to spout. Traces of old paint to surface. H 13 3/4".
