Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Palatine, WV origin, circa 1875, both of semi-ovoid form with tooled spouts, featuring the stenciled advertising, "PETER WELTY & Co / WHOLESALE / LIQUORS / 1118 MAIN & 1121 MARKET ST / WHEELING, W. VA." Shorter with two stenciled 2's at shoulder and larger with one stenciled "2." Shorter with some residue to surface, uneven glazing to surface, the handle with a minor glazed-over chip, a minor nick and a minor in-the-firing ping. Taller with an in-the-firing chip to spout, two in-the-firing chips to handle, some light surface wear, a small chip to underside at edge, and two in-the-firing contact marks to shoulder. H (of shorter) 13 3/4".
