Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Stenciled "BOYERS KNOTTS / PALATINE / W VA," circa 1875, both of semi-ovoid form with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring circular "BOYERS KNOTTS [& CO]" stenciling. Smaller appears to purposefully lack the "& CO" in the stenciling. Larger with crack across underside, forming a Y at base on reverse, a spot of kiln residue at base, and two chips to interior of rim. Smaller with recessed spot to front including an in-the-firing chip and piece of adhered clay, an in-the-firing surface chip to reverse, a chip and minuscule nick to interior of rim, and staining to surface.
