One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Bowl, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," VA origin, circa 1890, flaring form with thin, semi-rounded rim, the exterior brush-decorated with three groups of swags over a slip-coated ground. A 1 1/4" line from rim. Surface wear to interior base. Exterior of rim with a few chips and a glazed-over worn section. Interior of rim with wear and two small in-the-firing pings. A small chip and minor nick to bottom edge of bowl. Diam. 10" ; H 5 1/2".
