Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LYONS," Thompson Harrington, Lyons, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with large fan-shaped blossom. Slip-trailed twice with a "2" at shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Includes salt-glazed stoneware lid, Northeastern U.S. origin. Significant painted restoration to front, sides, and rim of jar, including some small areas of touch-up to edges of flower as well as entire painted restoration to the right "2." Additional fry to cobalt. Lid with small edge chip, in otherwise excellent condition. H (excluding lid) 11".
