One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," VA origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and arched tab handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering tulip ascending the front. Horizontal floral motifs to shoulder on reverse. Wavy line decoration extending completely around jar below rim. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced Virginia collection. Significant restoration to reverse and one side. Some restoration to rim on reverse. Residue to rim. Thin sealed cracks to front. Base chips. H 10".
