Two One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Bowls with Cobalt Floral Decorations, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, both of ovoid form with flattened rim, brush-decorated with horizontal tulip motifs. Open-tulip bowl with a cross-shaped surface crack on one side, not visible on interior, staining to surface, a thin worn spot to reverse, and several rim chips. The other with fry to cobalt, staining to surface, and a tight spider crack on underside, continuing 3 1/2" up reverse. Dimensions (of open-tulip bowl): 11 3/4" x 6 1/8".
