Scarce Two-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "J. SWANN / ALEXA," Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1820, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and arched tab handles, impressed with John Swann maker's mark at shoulder. Numerous small base chips. A thin crack across underside extending onto base area in two places. A minor rim chip and tiny rim nick. Two minor adjacent chips to one handle. H 11 3/4".
