Multi-Glazed Redware Jar with Coggled Rim, Stamped "S. BELL & SON. / STRASBURG.," VA origin, circa 1890, ovoid jar with heavily coggled rim, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip, decorated with large splotches of copper and manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Lead-and-manganese-glazed interior. A 5/8" hole in underside. Significant glaze exfoliation to exterior and interior. A 1 1/2" surface line at shoulder, not visible on interior. Some wear to rim. H 9 1/2".
