Two-Gallon Stoneware Chicken Waterer, Northeastern U.S. origin, second half 19th century, dome-shaped form with applied watering trough, the waterer with applied handles and button-shaped finial. Impressed "2" on shoulder. Cobalt highlights surrounding trough, running along edge of trough, surrounding handles, and along top of finial. Hairlines to underside, forming two thin cracks extending up reverse, one measuring 7" up side of waterer and 6" up side of waterer. Diagonal lines descending from bottom edge of trough. Three chips to edge of trough. Some in-the-firing to Albany slip glaze on interior. Old paint to underside and an in-the-firing surface crack where trough meets reservoir on underside. H 13 1/2".
