Unusual Two-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Chicken Waterer with Cobalt Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, second half 19th century, dome-shaped form with applied watering trough, the waterer with applied handles and button-shaped finial. Cobalt highlights to opening of trough and surrounding trough, as well as surrounding handles and covering the top of the finial. Impressed "2 1/2" on shoulder. Uncommon size. Hairlines to front, shoulder, and one spider line to left side. A few chips to edge of watering trough. Chips to one handle. One chip to opposite handle. Contact mark to front. Tiny chip to edge on underside. H 13 1/2".
