Two Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, probably NJ origin, circa 1855, both of cylindrical form with tooled shoulders and squared rims, each decorated with a heavily-leafed stem on the front and the fractions, "1/4." and "1/2.," on the reverse denoting the gallonage. One-quart jar with a 3 3/4" diagonal crack from rim and a few chips to rim and a few chips to base. Half-gallon jar with three rim chips, staining to surface, two in-the-firing base chips, measuring 1 1/8" and 1", a 4" Y-shaped line from base on reverse, and a faint 3" Y-shaped line at base on front. H (of shorter) 7 1/4".
