One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Chester County, PA origin, circa 1860, wide, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a swag-and-hanging-flower motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Loss to one handle. A small chip to opposite handle. A few small rim chips. An approximately 7" spider line to underside, not visible on interior. A 4" crack on underside, extending 3" up base of crock below one handle. A 2" diagonal in-the-making surface line at base, not visible on interior. Minor flecks of old white paint to surface. H 6 7/8" ; Diam. 11 1/4".
