Two-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to R.J. Grier, Chester County, PA, circa 1880, wide, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with drooping floral motifs on the front and reverse. Unusual decoration of three crossed slashes below each handle. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with a shallow 1" chip to interior of rim. Diam. 11 1/2" ; H 6 5/8".
