One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Baltimore, MD Advertising, attributed to Peter Herrmann, Baltimore, MD, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, lightly-impressed at the shoulder with the advertising “I. BATORY & CO. / 282 WEST PRATT ST / BALTIMORE.” Brush-decorated around the shoulder with four clover motifs. Ignatius Batory & Co. was a local baker’s and confectioner’s supply dealer active at this location from 1879 to 1887. Crocker Farm would like to thank Don Smith for his assistance in deciphering the stamp. A 1 3/4" vertical surface crack to interior of rim, not visible on exterior. Chips to interior of rim. In-the-firing contact marks to body. H 11 3/8".
