One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Baltimore, MD Advertising, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, cylindrical form with tooled spout, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "JOHN DOWNEY / WHOLESALE DEALER IN / GROCERIES / WINES & LIQUORS / NO 133 FRANKLIN ST / BALTIMORE." A 1 1/4" x 1 1/8" fork-shaped line descending from spout. No pieces of the spout appear to be reglued. An additional 1 1/4" line from spout on side of jug. Two minor in-the-firing fissures at upper handle terminal. H 11 1/4".
