Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Stenciled "Jas. Hamilton / & Co. / Greensboro / Pa.," circa 1875, ovoid-bodied pitcher with tall collar and heavily-tooled rim, featuring James Hamilton maker's stenciling underscored by a freehand stripe. Spout decorated with cobalt stripes surrounding appealing wavy line and spot motifs. Desirable form and excellent color. Professional restoration to mouth of spout. A restored 3 3/8" vertical hairline to right of spout. Minor chipping to rim. H 10 3/8".
