Stoneware Canning Jar with Bold Stripe Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1880, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, brush-decorated with four thick stripes of cobalt. Provenance: Pete Haggarty Collection. Shallow chipping to inner wax sealer rim. A 1/2" in-the-firing chip at base on side of jar. A shallow 5/8" in-the-firing chip to underside at edge and a second, smaller chip to underside at edge. An area of staining at base on side/reverse of jar. H 8 1/4".
