Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HUMISTON & WARNER / SOUTH AMBOY," NJ origin, circa 1830, ovoid jar with applied lug handles and slightly-flared rim, brush-decorated with a curve-stemmed floral motif. Appealing incised wavy combing around shoulder, an unusual treatment. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Rim chips. A few small chips to inner rim for lid. A 1" hairline from rim on side of jar. Crazing to underside and base, probably in-the-making. A 3" X-shaped line near base on front. Some fry to cobalt. Old white paint splatter to surface, primarily on reverse. H 12".
