Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG,PA," circa 1865, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a drooping stem with leaves. Reverse with a 7/8" rim chip and 1/2" in-the-firing ping to rim. Heavy chipping to one handle. Lesser chipping to opposite handle. A glazed-over 7/8" base chip on reverse with a 1 3/4" surface line ascending from it, not visible on interior. Areas of surface staining. H 8 7/8".
