Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flower blossom resembling a wreath. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. A 5/8" spout chip. Some minor in-the-firing roughness to reverse of spout. A 5" vertical line to side of jug. A 1 3/4" vertical line to base. A few glazed-over base chips. Some light staining to surface. H 13".
