One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Incised Floral Decoration, Midwestern origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with flaring collar and rounded rim, the front decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a tulip with crossed blossom. Veining to the petals and leaves were incised in a sgraffito style after the cobalt was applied. Impressed "25" on underside. In-the-firing contact marks (one recessed) including in-the-firing flakes to body and an in-the-firing flake to handle. A few base chips. H 10 3/4".
