Exceptional Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "J.A.C," John A. Craven, Randolph County, NC, mid 19th century, ovoid jug with wide spout, semi-rounded mouth, and broad strap handle, the surface covered in a salt glaze, the upper body with heavier application of the glaze including colorful greenish spotting. Reverse shoulder impressed with "J.A.C" maker's mark. Finely-potted form with beautiful glaze. Excellent condition with two small base chips. H 16 1/2".
