Salt-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar, Stamped "H. FOX," Chatham County, NC, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flaring mouth with raised inner rim designed to hold a canning lid. Salt-glazed surface with heavy runs to rim and shoulder area. Impressed on midsection with Himer Fox maker's mark between a stamped "1" and stamped masonic symbol. A small chip to exterior of rim. A chip to inner wax sealer rim with adjacent small chip to interior of that rim. H 10 1/2".
