One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA.," NY State origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with turned head, perched on a stylized stump. An in-the-firing surface chip and minor piece of adhered clay to shoulder. Other minor in-the-firing contact marks to surface. Light staining. A minor H-shaped in-the-firing line to shoulder. A tiny base nick on reverse. H 11 3/4".
