Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA", NY State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with turned head, striped body, and spotted wing, perched on a flowering vine. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some minor in-the-firing flaws to surface. A 4" horizontal Y-shaped line to shoulder. Raised molding below rim with two chips and a miniscule nick. H 10 3/4".
