Rare One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Iron-Oxide Decoration, John Davis Leopard or possibly Ussery Family, Bacon Level, Randolph County, AL, circa 1845, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated around the shoulder with four large iron-oxide splotches against a green alkaline-glazed ground. A thin 3" inverted T-shaped crack from rim. A 1 1/4" inverted T-shaped hairline from rim. Traces of old residue to rim. A small in-the-firing ping to shoulder. *NOTE: The condition of this lot has been updated to include a 2 1/2" vertical hairline at base. H 11 3/4".
