Two-Gallon Iron-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Impressed Eagle-on-Cannon Motif, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, circa 1812-1827, highly-ovoid jar with footed base, open loop handles, and heavy tooling to shoulder and collar, decorated with an impressed design on a spread-winged eagle seated atop a cannon. A 1 3/4" rim chip above handle. A filled rim chip on reverse. Traces of old blue paint to surface. A 4" line on reverse, extending across underside and 9" up front to right of decoration. A few small base chips. H 12 3/8".
