Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "OTTMAN BROS. & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. Significant staining. Water glass staining to interior. A thin 6 1/4" crack from rim on front. A tight 6" x 5 1/2" spider crack below right handle. A thin 5 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. A small in-the-firing iron ping to interior. H 10 5/8".
